WHY BUY A FATYAK™ KAYAK?

Our Fatyak™ Kayaks are made in Somerset, very affordable and come in great funky colours.

What features are standard on the Fatyak™?

The Fatyak™ Surf is our basic kayak, this comes with padeyes and toggle carry handles. The Fatyak™ Kaafu comes with 2 x waterproof storage hatches, moulded in carry handles, 2 x paddle parks and rear storage compartment. The Fatyak™ Mahee has all of the same features as the Kaafu.

WILL I GET WET WITH ‘SIT ON TOP’ KAYAKING?

Due to the nature of the sport, you will get wet especially in the seat area. You can if preferred plug the drainage holes with scupper plugs, these are available in the accessory section on our site. However, we do not recommend plugging all as you should allow water to flow out when in use.

WHAT ARE THE WEIGHT LIMITS OF THE FATYAK™, AM I TOO HEAVY?

The Fatyak™ Surf has a weight limit of 90kgs, the Fatyak™ Kaafu is 130kgs and the Fatyak™ Mahee has a combined weight limit of 200kgs. They will all take more, but you will sit lower in the water. We have not heard of anyone that is too big for a Fatyak™ Yet!

I AM NEW TO KAYAKING WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?

To get you started you will need the Fatyak™, paddle and seat back plus a buoyancy aid – all of which are available in our accessory section.

WHAT ARE THE HOLES FOR IN THE FATYAK™?

These are drainage holes, there is also a drainage plug at the rear of the kayaks which needs to be let out regularly to release any pressure.

WHICH FATYAK™ IS BEST SUITED TO A CHILD?

The Fatyak™ Surf is a very stable boat and is designed to sit lower in the water, making it ideal for children. But, we have had children as young as 7 paddling the Fatyak™ Kaafu too. Check out the videos on our website and the photos on our FB page.

HOW IS THE BEST WAY TO STORE MY FATYAK™?

We recommend storing your Fatyak™ in a garage or under cover out of the UV light, however all of our products are made of UV stabilised plastics and will reform to original shape. The Fatyak™ is best stored on its side, preferably in a wall rack or similar see our storage/transportation section on website.

WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND FOR TRANSPORTING MY FATYAK™?

The Fatyaks can easily be transported on a roof rack, with straps to secure. See our accessory section for racks we sell.

WILL I BE ABLE TO CARRY MY FATYAK™ ON MY OWN?

The Fatyak™ Surf and Kaafu are both light weight, and easily carried. However, you do have the option to a sit on top trolley, which is inserted into the scupper holes on the bottom of the boat. Available to purchase in our accessory section.

IS THE FATYAK™ SURF SUITABLE FOR RIVERS/LAKES?

The Fatyak™ Surf is a great play boat for mucking around in the waves, it is not suitable for rivers or paddling any distance.

I WANT A VERSATILE FATYAK™ FOR BOTH SEA AND RIVER USE, WHICH ONE SHOULD I OPT FOR?

The Fatyak™ Kaafu is great for surfing the waves, but due to the design of the hull tracks very well through the water, making it easy to paddle and great for rivers and lakes too. Again, the Fatyak™ Mahee is versatile and can be used in sea and rivers/lakes.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE IN THE 3 SEATS AVAILABLE?

The basic seat back is a seat that sits around the ball of your back. The comfort seat back is a more padded version with a zipper storage compartment on the back. The sports seat back is one that has a padded cushion seat and comes right up the back. The basic seat back is the one shown in the package deals.

Our paddles are 2 piece paddles, which make it easier for storage and transporting and are OK for both right and left handed paddlers.

CAN I PADDLE THE MAHEE ON MY OWN?

If paddling the Fatyak™ Mahee alone you will need to sit in the rear seat, but it is possible.
