Thank you for choosing a Fatyak kayak.

Every Fatyak is proudly manufactured in the UK using high-quality, UV-stabilised High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), designed to provide years of reliable enjoyment on the water.

Whether you're exploring rivers, lakes, canals or the coastline, we want every adventure to be safe, enjoyable and hassle-free.

Please take a few minutes to read this guide before using your kayak.

Before Your First Adventure

Before launching your kayak:

  • Inspect your kayak for any signs of damage.
  • Ensure all fittings and accessories are secure.
  • Check that your drain bung (if fitted) is fully tightened.
  • Make sure your seat and footrests are correctly adjusted.
  • Always check local weather, wind and tide conditions before heading out.

Essential Safety

Your safety is your responsibility.

We strongly recommend that every paddler:

  • Always wears a correctly fitted buoyancy aid (PFD).
  • Carries a whistle or means of attracting attention.
  • Lets someone know where they are going.
  • Avoids paddling in dangerous weather conditions.
  • Stays within their experience and ability level.
  • Avoids alcohol or drugs before entering the water.

Never paddle alone in unfamiliar or open water where possible.

Launching Your Kayak

Before launching:

  • Place the kayak in shallow water.
  • Enter the kayak carefully while maintaining balance.
  • Sit centrally in the seat.
  • Keep your weight low.
  • Push away gently using your paddle.

Avoid dragging the kayak over rocks, concrete or rough ground wherever possible.

While Paddling

For the best experience:

  • Paddle with smooth, even strokes.
  • Keep your body centred.
  • Avoid sudden movements.
  • Stay aware of other water users.
  • Respect wildlife and local regulations.
  • Leave plenty of space around boats and swimmers.

Returning to Shore

When approaching land:

  • Slow your speed.
  • Paddle in carefully.
  • Exit in shallow water where possible.
  • Lift the kayak clear of the ground rather than dragging it.

Transporting Your Kayak

When transporting your kayak:

  • Support it correctly using roof bars or a suitable trailer.
  • Secure using quality straps.
  • Do not overtighten straps.
  • Avoid prolonged transport in direct sunlight where possible.
  • Ensure the kayak cannot move during transport.

Always follow your vehicle manufacturer's roof load limits.

Cleaning

After each use:

  • Rinse the kayak with fresh water.
  • Remove sand, mud and salt deposits.
  • Allow it to dry before storage.
  • Clean using mild soapy water only.

Do not use:

  • Solvents
  • Petrol
  • Bleach
  • Harsh chemicals
  • Pressure washers at close range

Storage

To maximise the life of your kayak:

  • Store in a cool, dry location.
  • Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight when not in use.
  • Support the kayak evenly.
  • Avoid placing heavy objects on top.
  • Store securely to prevent accidental movement.

Caring for Your Kayak

Your Fatyak is manufactured from durable HDPE, but good care will help keep it looking its best.

Avoid:

  • Dragging across rough surfaces
  • Leaving the kayak full of water for extended periods
  • Excessive impacts with rocks or hard objects
  • Storing next to heat sources

Minor surface scratches are normal and will not affect performance.

Warranty

All Fatyak kayaks are covered by our 2-Year Manufacturing Defects Warranty.

The warranty covers defects in materials or workmanship under normal recreational use.

It does not cover:

  • Normal wear and tear
  • Cosmetic scratches
  • Impact damage
  • Improper storage
  • Accidental damage
  • Commercial hire use (unless agreed in writing)
  • Damage caused by misuse or neglect

Please retain your proof of purchase for any warranty claim.
