Everything You Need to Know

We've answered some of the questions we're asked most often about our kayaks, ordering and ownership. If you can't find the answer you're looking for, our team will be happy to help.

Where are Fatyak kayaks made?

Every Fatyak kayak is proudly manufactured in Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom.

We rotationally mould each kayak using premium UV-stabilised High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), ensuring exceptional durability and long-lasting performance.

What material are your kayaks made from?

Our kayaks are manufactured from high-quality UV-stabilised High Density Polyethylene (HDPE).

This material is extremely durable, impact resistant and designed to withstand years of recreational use in a wide range of environments.

Are your kayaks suitable for beginners?

Absolutely.

Our kayaks are designed to be stable, easy to paddle and suitable for both beginners and experienced paddlers alike.

As with any water sport, we recommend wearing a buoyancy aid and following our Safety Information guide before heading out.

Can your kayaks be used on the sea?

Yes.

Our kayaks are suitable for use on:

  • Lakes
  • Rivers
  • Canals
  • Estuaries
  • Coastal waters

Always check weather conditions, tides and local regulations before paddling on the sea.

Can I use my kayak in salt water?

Yes.

After use in salt water, simply rinse your kayak thoroughly with fresh water to remove salt deposits and help prolong the life of the fittings and accessories.

How much weight can your kayaks carry?

Each kayak model has its own recommended maximum weight capacity.

Please refer to the specifications listed on the individual product page before purchasing.

Staying within the recommended weight limit provides the best stability and performance.

Do your kayaks come with paddles?

This depends on the product you purchase.

Each product page clearly lists exactly what is included with your kayak.

If paddles, seats or accessories are included, they will be shown in the product description.

Do I need to assemble my kayak?

Very little assembly is required.

Depending on the model, you may simply need to fit the seat or install a small number of accessories before your first adventure.

Are your kayaks suitable for children?

Some models are suitable for younger paddlers when used under the close supervision of a responsible adult.

Children should always wear a correctly fitted buoyancy aid and use equipment appropriate for their size and ability.

How do I transport my kayak?

Most customers transport their kayak using roof bars or a suitable trailer.

Always secure your kayak using quality straps and avoid overtightening them.

Make sure your kayak is properly supported throughout transport.

How should I store my kayak?

For the longest lifespan, we recommend storing your kayak:

  • Indoors where possible.
  • Out of prolonged direct sunlight.
  • Clean and dry.
  • Supported evenly on suitable racks or supports.

Avoid placing heavy objects on top of the kayak.

How do I clean my kayak?

Cleaning is simple.

Use fresh water and mild soapy water if required.

Avoid using harsh chemicals, solvents or abrasive cleaning products, as these may damage the surface or fittings.

Will my kayak scratch?

Yes.

Like any kayak, surface scratches and scuff marks are completely normal during regular use.

These cosmetic marks do not affect the strength or performance of your kayak.

Do your kayaks come with a warranty?

Yes.

Every new Fatyak kayak includes a 1-Year Manufacturing Defects Warranty.

This covers defects in materials or workmanship under normal recreational use.

The warranty does not cover accidental damage, misuse, normal wear and tear, impact damage or incorrect storage.

What should I do if my kayak arrives damaged?

Please inspect your kayak as soon as it is delivered.

If you notice any damage or missing parts, contact us as soon as possible with photographs of the affected area and your order details so we can resolve the issue quickly.

Do you offer free delivery?

Yes.

We offer FREE UK Mainland delivery on all products.

If you're located outside the UK Mainland, please contact us before ordering so we can provide a delivery quotation.

Can I return my kayak?

Returned items must be unused, in their original condition and returned in suitable packaging.

Please see our Delivery & Returns Policy for full details.

How long will delivery take?

Delivery times vary depending on the product ordered.

  • Accessories are typically dispatched within 1–2 working days.
  • Kayaks are usually dispatched within 3–10 working days.

If your order includes made-to-order products, we'll advise you of the expected lead time.

Do I need to wear a buoyancy aid?

Yes—we strongly recommend that every paddler wears a properly fitted buoyancy aid whenever they are on the water.

Even experienced paddlers should never paddle without one.

Can I leave my kayak outside?

Your kayak is designed to withstand outdoor conditions, but prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and the elements may reduce its appearance over time.

Where possible, store your kayak indoors or under cover to maximise its lifespan.
