The Samos stand up paddle board from Fatyak™ is a brilliant board for all abilities although specifically aimed at the novice to intermediate user, it is large enough and rigid so that paddlers can use without falling off so helping them build in confidence. Stable, robust and available in a range of great colours – it will ensure all paddlers will all have an enjoyable time.

Our mission

The Samos SUP is a rotationally moulded stand up paddle board, born to bring something new to the exploding SUP arena. Traditionally, epoxy boards are the natural choice, and now with the growing adoption of inflatable paddle boards, we wanted to bring a fresh new alternative to the market.

The Samos gives you maximum bang for your buck.

Although not giving you the high level stiffness to weight ratio of a typical epoxy board, being a fraction of the cost it still out performs them in durability. Made from high strength plastic allows it to take hard impacts without damage. This gives paddles the opportunity of learning and trying out the sport without the fear of damaging their new toy.

Inflatable SUP’s have been great for the industry allowing paddlers cheap alternative to existing epoxy boards. However; this has been at the compromise of performance and durability. Although inflatable SUP’s are extremely lightweight this method of construction results in a board that bows introducing drag and is prone susceptible to damage. This is where the Samos comes to life offering a low cost alternative keeping weight to a low 20KG while maintaining a stiffer hull to inflatable’s and bulletproof walls.

Why choose the Samos SUP?

The innovative design of the Samos targets both these problems in one. The unique wishbone features on the Samos works by acting against the natural yarding as the paddler strokes. This keeps the nose pointing straight; splitting below the deck to give support for a natural stance. In doing so, this has allowed us to produce a much thinner board than many standard rotationally-moulded boards. This means at 20KG the Samos is one of the lightest rotationally moulded stand up paddle boards on the market! However, the Samos still manages to boast an all-rounder profile. This makes it great for all applications from day play, and exploring, to fitness and fun on the waves.

The Samos includes a wide set of features as standard:
– Carry handle grips and deck area,
– Drain plug and bottle holder.
– An all-rounder fin, and custom 10.5″ fin box accepting all standard fins. So changing your fin is easy!
– Front bungee storage
– Free Mizu stainless steel water bottle with every purchase!

As always, you can be safe in the knowledge that it’s manufactured to Fatyak’s high quality rotational moulding standards. This means no seams and no joints. As well as this, the Samos SUP is manufactured using high grade, high density UV stabilised polyethylene. Made in accordance with BS7852 as well as our own high standard procedures, in Somerset, England.

Jeff Cross, Channel Surf South West

I have been lucky enough to have the use of a Samos over the winter period. And have. Managed to use it on both the flat and in some surf. (Up to about 3ft) so nothing too big. And I’m happy to say it’s one of the most fun boards I have used to date. ?. In the surf it’s width helps no end with the stability. As its only a 10′ board coupled with rounded nose and slight rocker helps get the first turn in. The down side in the surf is the weight. It does take a little more effort to start moving from static. But once it starts gliding I feel the weight actually just helps the stability and keeps the momentum going. Especially if it a little lumpy. (As it often is on our British shores) all that said. I have had my 11 year old son on it and he doesn’t struggle with the weight.
Using the Samos on the flat it really comes into its own. As its so stable with the width. It make exploring coast and cruising around such an enjoyable experience. I have found that with a bit of lunch on your back. You can loose hours exploring with very little effort. ?
In my view (and at the risk of sounding like a sales pitch) it’s such good value for an all round family fun board. It’s actually the board I grab the most out of the ones I have. Oh and my weight is about 80kg. (Last time I checked)

It may take a while to get heads round the plastic concept of a rotomoulded stand up paddle board. But give it chance and you might discover Fatyak’s Samos is the SUP for you. Whilst a little heavier than epoxy boards it’ll stand up to knocks and scrapes much better than conventional sticks. Easy to paddle, in both finned and finless mode, newbies looking for a stable platform right up to SUP fisher types and explorers would be able to make good use of the Samos. And you can’t argue with the price which is a mere snip.
